Construction   PDF  Print  E-mail

The Lyons C Clarinet is made with three separable parts: mouthpiece, body and bell. The body's material is ABS and keywork's, Delrin. These are high-quality, modern plastics that last indefinitely. The pads are of waterproof silicon rubber.

The keywork slots into recesses in the body to allow the owner to remove keys, for instance to change a pad, strengthen a spring or replace the key with a new one.

The clarinet is ready to play straight out of its case; no assembly or disassembly needed.

The case is a cylindrical tube, ribbed for strength. It can be used as three types of percussion instrument by itself : a guiro, by running a wooden stick along the ribs (the ribs on the case, not yours); a shaker, by filling with dried beans and ... shaking; and a drum, by striking the bottom end. (No comment). Each of these 'percussion instruments' has a slightly different sound with the lid on or off. (When using the case as a 'lid off' shaker, keep the tube vertical, for obvious reasons.)
